The Smith Victor economically-priced line all-in-one SoftBox Lights combine a softbox with the light fixture, all in one unit! Can be used with fluorescent lamps, photoflood lamps, and Smith Victors new quartz halogen lamps. The Economy Softbox Light is a great way to take advantage of softbox lighting quality at very reasonable prices. The silver metalic lining inside the softbox is designed for maximum brightness, while the diffusion panel provides the smooth velvet light that softboxes are known for. The light fixture has a ceramic socket that will accept all standard Edison base lamps. The light stand adapter will fit 5/8" light stands. The stand mounting bracket features an insulated handle on the tilt mechanism and a ratchet locking system. The elastic collar on the back of the softbox allows for easy setup and prevents light leaks. While the softbox is designed for continuous lighting applications, it can be used on Smith Victor FLC300 and FLC200 strobe lights by replacing the continuous light mounting bracket with Smith Victor mounting bracket #670159.

After an hour of wrestling and getting popped in the face, and after it became a two-person operation, we finally figured it out: pull the black softbox over the metal light base, then attach the steel rods to the white cloth fabric corners *FIRST* (look for little raises stitching notches in the corners of the fabric to slide the steel rods into. Then slide the steel rod into the metal light base. Repeat this process DIAGONALLY across the white fabric and then repeat two more times for the other diagonal.... Expect to take at least 10-15 minutes per light.. PROS: Big light box throws very nice soft light. Easy to figure out AFTER wrestling with it... CONS: Lack of support and instructions for the product... The soft boxes deliver a very nice soft light I was very impressed about the light weight and the care of the product packaging properly. Cons: for little extra $, should include a soft bag, manual are not the best, could be better, but is easy to build. |
